Prateek Solanki

Senior UX Designer · Design Engineer

I've designed and built software for more than a decade: developer tools and AI-powered systems at AWS, and before that, regulated medical devices at Siemens Healthineers. Whether it's cardiology or cloud infrastructure, I start by immersing myself in how people actually work, then shape what I learn into something they can use.

Lumina
  • Conceived, designed, and built a system that classifies customer feedback across more than 50 AWS services with large language models on Amazon Bedrock. Self-initiated, and built largely on my own.
  • Replaced weeks of partial, manual reading with every comment classified in minutes, across in-product feedback, support tickets, internal channels, and AWS re:Post.
  • Architected it as a set of foundational capabilities (classification, prioritization, trends, and search over one shared record) designed to feed the agent-native tools that designers, product managers, and engineers increasingly work in. Serverless and event-driven on Step Functions, Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, and S3.
  • Use has grown from the design team to engineering and product partners, with more teams onboarding their own data sources. Shared the work in several design talks and internal conferences.
Database developer tooling
  • ElastiCache connectivity: designed setup flows with contextual code samples and one-click CloudShell access, cutting setup from hours to minutes and removing the main barrier to getting started with caching.
  • Aurora I/O-Optimized: led UX for the feature's launch; it reached 30% adoption within its first year, the fastest-growing feature in Aurora.
  • RDS pricing: designed and validated a pricing-transparency vision adopted into the roadmap; the improvements so far cut pricing-related feedback tickets by 35%.

ACUSON Sequoia and Origin
  • Sequoia: concept research and interactive prototypes in Flash, Processing, and Java that questioned core assumptions of ultrasound interfaces, and helped develop the framework for organizing controls that guided Sequoia and later systems. In an independent study, Sequoia scored in the 95th percentile for usability, with 96% task success and 82% preference over competing systems.
  • Origin: lead designer for the cardiology system, running research across 12 sites in three countries. A cardiac study I designed, pairing Fitts' law pointing tasks with clinical workflows, showed the planned trackpad slowed precise selection, and led the team to replace it with a trackball late in development.
Shui design system
  • Helped create Siemens Healthineers' first design system, from touchscreen components to workflow patterns like patient management, used by more than 550 designers and engineers across 8+ product lines, from ultrasound to AI-assisted imaging. Recognized with Red Dot, UX Design, and German Design awards.
Other work
  • Vaccellent: co-led the design of COVID-19 vaccination tools for appointment scheduling, center inventory, and allocation planning.
  • AI in healthcare: worked through a broad body of research, along with lessons from my own ultrasound work, to shape how AI should be integrated across Siemens Healthineers' clinical workflows and products.
